My name is Milla Cocco. I am a 24 year old self taught pottery artist from Sudbury, Ontario. I specialize in creating fine detailed sculptures of plants and animals. I am deeply inspired by the ocean and nature. I have a bachelor of science degree in forensics, and have always appreciated the scientific drawings in my textbooks. Due to this, I design all of my animal sculptures to be anatomically correct with natural proportions. I consider my work to be the intersection between fine art and functional ceramic wear. I focus on making pieces such as mugs with large comfortable handles, wide fruit bowls and trays that are strong, durable and meant for everyday use.
I have no formal art training at all. However I have always loved to paint and draw. Ceramics are extremely new to me. In just 8 short months I have excelled rapidly, spending hundreds of hours developing this new talent of mine. I hope to one day be able to send myself to art school to deepen my knowledge and love of the craft.
Art is my passion and my escape, I appreciate all of the support and interest I have received thus far. I cannot be more grateful to do what I love and for the opportunity to be apart of the Northern artists gallery.
